Birthday Celebration

You only have one 60th birthday...(that's what Grampa said), so you can celebrate...and we did. We stayed at the Michelangelo Hotel, we ate supper at Gallagher's, we saw "Jersey Boys," and outside of a little rain, the evening was perfect.

ASH WEDNESDAY

This is the beginning of Lent. The multi church service was at our church starting with Soup and Bread Supper, imposition of Ashes, and Holy Communion. We will attend five more Wednesday services before Easter. The gathering of churches is a deeply meaningful time of sharing.

Birthday highlights

Grampa's birthday Wednesday celebration began with card and books from Gramma. Then we ate Lasagna at "our usual" place. Then we visited with Annabelle on the webcam. What fun that is!!! Grampa tried ticklingAnnabelle's tummy---you'll have to use your imagination. We talked with Daddy for a little while too. I think it was a pretty good day for Grampa!

Presidents' Day

This is one of those strange but true facts...I get the day off for Presidents' Day and Grampa doesn't...go figure. I don't get the day before or after Christmas off, he does; I don't get the day after Thanksgiving off, he does; I don't get a personal day, he does; but I do get Presidents' Day off .....and he doesn't ;-) I think I will enjoy it anyway.

Is this cute or what......

Part of a birthday gift box we received. This is ideal for green tea. Jue Ciu gave me a lesson on how to properly fix green tea. One puts the loose leaf(s) into the cup or pot, add boiling water, cover, steep for a few minutes, start drinking. Then as the cup empties, add more hot water. Keep refilling the cup for three or four more servings. I was using the pearl green tea (lotus flower) until I got a bad batch. Kind of ruined my desire for pearl tea. Good thing there are more varieties of tea...green...brown...red...black. We love all the gifts....they are just right!!! Grampa wore his Noah's Ark tie to church today. He said he will make the tee-shirt into a sermon...."I told you not to get too close to the edge!" (the parting of the Red Sea). Thanks!!

Time flies...

Well, after 27 years, the travel clock (that we used in the bathroom to keep us on time while getting ready for work) gave up. It had the temp on it too, so it is a real loss. Dave said we have to replace it, but can one actually replace a "friend" of 27 years?

Shingle lifting wind

That storm that brewed up all those tornadoes is now creating gusty winds here. It is mild but damp....so much for the clean car.

Congrats to the soon to be Texans. Can't wait to see the new digs.

Glad BIG GIRL got her valentine's day gifts. Happy Valentines Day, Annabelle!!! (You too, mommy and daddy!!!)

Oh what a difference a day makes.....

Still sunny and 50 degrees. This is the best weather all winter. We are still feeding the squirrels. They like the store bought nuts...we know this because they leave the broken shells under the trees. Maybe they'll thank us later.

The big Thaw...

Finally, the melt. After weeks of cold and snow, we have sunshine and warmth. Of course the salt laden vehicles need baths....but there is still too much salt and sand on the roads. Yes, that is Mr. Moops in Grampa's arms...he's such a whimp....Mr. Moops that is.

Let it snow...

Well, it happened again...snow! This is really getting ridiculous. It is not much snow...usually 1 to 6 inches, but almost every other day, phewey. We've been feeding the squirrels with nuts since there were NO acorns this winter. Squirrels will eat almost anything...but nuts in shells are better for them. That, at least, is what the squirrel expert said on the radio the other day.

When I logged on, my browser said that my cookies were disabled. How dare they! As you can see, my cookies are just fine.

Weekender

Highlight of the weekend was webcam visiting Annabelle. Of course, she's somewhat shy....likes to spin around until she falls down. Gramma does the same thing....but not intentionally ;)
Dave changed the ring tone on the house phone...so now there is a choir singing when the phone rings. It sure causes a "what's that" stir in the house.
